What to taste in Belarus

Belarusian, Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, Jewish, Lithuanian, Latvian and Tartar cuisines have boiled together and created a gastronomical mix that has become what Belarusian cuisine is now. Here are the most popular Belarussian dishes.
Draniki and kaldoony.
A traditional and famous
belarussian potato dishes. The difference is that draniki are small potato
pancakes and kaldoony potato pancakes fılled with meat.
Svekolnik – a cold soup made of beet, boiled eggs and fresh cucumbers with greenery. Served with yogurt like sour cream called “Smetana”.
Machanka pancakes
Thick pancakes can be served with cottage cheese filling or with “Machanka” meat souce.
Salted vegetables and meat.
Salted beacon, pickles, cabbages or mushrooms are used as a traditional belarussian appetizer accompanied to alcohol.
Berezovik juice
(Birch sap or birch water) is the sap directly tapped from birch trees. It is a clear and uncoloured liquid, very similar to water, often a bit sweet with a slightly silky texture.
Syrok
Curd snack) is a type of sweet snack made from curd cheese. They also sometimes have no filling and are glazed with chocolate.
