How is the work to reduce the impact of chemicals on the environment in the Cherikov’s district
The past year is remembered by bright events. Pleasant acquaintances, successful business meetings, organizing and conducting the best events, achievements this is all that remains in the memories. At the end of the year, each one highlights significant events, analyzes how productive time has passed, and draws conclusions Of course, there is something to remember, there is something to be proud of, but it is very important to identify what could not be done to be able to effectively build plans for the current year.
Implementers of the initiative "Elaboration of the technology of transition to organic fertilizers of domestic production of agricultural enterprises of Cherikovsky district" also carried out an analysis of the work done last year and shared its results, and also talked about plans for the current year.
This initiative is implemented by the ICA "Assistance to Business Development" in the framework of the Small Grants Program of the Global Environment Facility of Belarus in cooperation with partners - the Cherikov district executive committee and the Yezersk rural council.
The main goal of the initiative is to reduce the impact of chemicals on the environment and human health by working out the technology for switching to organic farming in Cherikov's agricultural enterprises. The initiative is implemented on the basis of the enterprise CAUE "Yezersky".
The initiative was launched on April 26, 2017. Since then, many events have taken place that contributed to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the initiative. For the development of the technology of transition to organic fertilizers of domestic production on the basis of CAUE "Yezersky" was allocated area for sowing.
An important component in the conduct of organic farming is the use of special equipment and machinery for working with organic fertilizers. An alternative in the transition to organic farming is the use of a deep ripper. At the moment the choice of the supplier has already been made, the equipment has been purchased and supplied to the territory of the CAUE "Yezersky".
The active introduction of organic fertilizers contributes to the improvement of the ecological situation. And agricultural enterprises are those entities that are able to support and develop the theme of organic farming. That is why an information campaign is being carried out for agricultural enterprises on the technology of transition to organic fertilizers and on the method of using organic fertilizers in large areas.
A number of seminars have already been held during the implementation of the initiative. In September, a training seminar for specialists in the field of agriculture was held, which contributed to the improvement of the competence of 11 employees of the CAUE "Yezersky" and a mutually beneficial exchange of information on the method of introducing organic fertilizers between the expert and the participants.
In the middle of December, there were 3 more seminars for residents of the Cherikov district. Within the framework of the proposed topics - "Technologies for the transition to organic fertilizers, including the use of liquid fertilizers" and "Persistent organic pollutants and other hazardous chemicals on the environment and humans" - experts together with 52 participants discussed the role of organic farming in agriculture, told about the technology of organic fertilizer application, the stages and difficulties of obtaining a certificate for the production of environmentally friendly products. Within the framework of the topic on the impact of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) on the environment and human being, questions were raised on how to deal with such pollutants.
In order to eliminate unauthorized dumps of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), a volunteer group was formed in the Cherikov district. The search for unauthorized landfills was productive and effective. It was interesting to observe with what enthusiasm the volunteers told about their findings. After all, while benefiting the environment, a person cares about his health.
The initiative "Elaboration of the technology of transition to organic fertilizers of domestic production of agricultural enterprises of Cherikovsky district" will continue its work in 2018, which promises to be rich and productive. The initiative will continue to define the role of organic fertilizers in agriculture through monitoring the growth of planted rye and the state of the soil on the land plot belonging to the CAUE "Yezersky" . The work related to informing the residents of the Cherikov region about the impact of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) on the environment and human beings will continue.
The results of the initiative will be summed up during a round table with the participation of international experts in the field of organic farming. There will also be a demonstration of the technology of cultivating the land with liquid organic fertilizers.
